Upcoming Holidays - Avoid Credit Card Theft

Credit Card Fraud Add comments

We all know that during the holiday seasons unfortunately the crime rate will continue to rise. Especially in today’s society where all we are hearing about is all the lay offs that are occurring. There is no reason to get scared; however with the upcoming holidays we wanted to provide you with some tips that you can use to avoid credit card theft.

Use these tips and you will discover that you can go through the holidays without worrying about whether or not someone has gotten a hold of your identity:

1. Online Purchases: If it is possible make sure that you use a prepaid credit card to make all your purchases. It is extremely easy to find several prepaid credit cards that will enable you to do all your online purchases. With a prepaid card no one can run up a ridiculous bill and use it for evil purposes.

2. Carry One Card: Never carry a bunch of cards with you to the malls. Everyone knows how crowded these places become especially during the holiday season. I would highly recommend that you only carry one card with you when you go out to do your shopping.

3. File Your Statements: Keep a nice neat file of all your statements that you receive on a monthly basis. However you will want to make sure that you check them over to make sure that their are not any unusual charges to your card. Even though this is common sense; many people do not take the time to check over their statements. They just look at what the minimum payment is and then write out a check to the company.

4. Do Not Use It As An ATM: You should never use your credit card at an ATM machine. People fail to realize how easy it is for someone to come behind you and take money out right after you leave. I personally know someone who had this happen to them.

If you follow these steps then you will be able to enjoy the upcoming holidays and also be able to avoid credit card theft. Even though these are not foolproof the best way to ensure that you are safe is to have a great identity protection plan in place.
