I guess it could be because they are trusting and they will give out the person information easier than a younger person.

1. Never provide information over the phone: The truth is that the elderly are the targets for these types of phone calls that will ask them for all their personal information. Believe it or not many of the elderly people will provide all the information that the caller asks for over the phone. Unfortunately it is not uncommon to hear about a story where someone older had all the savings stolen because they relayed their personal information to the caller on the other end.

2. Never Carry Your Social Security Card: There is no reason to carry your social security card with you where ever you go. Make sure that you leave it at home locked up in a safe or deposit box.

3. Keep Your Doors Locked: People love targeting the elderly because they feel if they can get in their house then they can get all their personal information that will be a goldmine for them. Well the best thing you can do; is to have your doors and windows locked at all times.

If possible get some type of identity theft insurance program that will help monitor your personal information. You may be thinking that you are too old and no one will want your personal information. However the opposite is the fact.

People tend to think that you have great credit and very little debt therefore if they can access your personal information they will not have any trouble getting money from you. So stay safe and get the proper protection that will help keep you safe
