Are you one of the millions of people who do not have identity theft protection? If so have you asked yourself why not? Millions of people walk around without health insurance and wonder why they did not have it when something happens. Are you going to wait until it is too late and then you have to hire all the legal protection and everything else that comes with trying to restore your identity?

People in our society are reactive instead of proactive; we all tend to think that we will face something when it actually happens to us. Is this the best way to protect you and your family? Why would you put off getting protection from identity theft? Is it because you do not believe that it will happen to you? Well guess what so did the people who have had their identity stolen.

Whether you have heard of any of the horror stories about people all over having their identity stolen; all you have to do is browse the internet and you will see that this crime continues to rise. The people who had their identity stolen; most likely did not have the proper protection to keep people from stealing their identity either. Now I am sure if they could do it again they probably would take the proper measures to get the right protection from identity theft.

One of the best things that you can protect yourself from this crime is to avoid giving out your personal information to anyone over the phone or email. No matter who they are never give it to them.

I had an instance where I received a call a couple months back from someone saying that they were from my personal bank; and they needed some information from me. They caught me in the middle of a nap and I could not really understand what they were talking about; however I never gave them the information and told them that I would give them a call back. When I woke up I finally called my bank back and told them about the call and that I was getting back with them to let them know that I would come by later and give them the information that they needed.

Well needless to say they did not make the call and they had no idea what I was talking about. So my point is that if you get a call from anyone no matter who they say that they are; never give them any kind of personal information about yourself.
