I wanted to share with you what I have begun doing with mine and my families personal information to make sure that we do not become victims of this crime. First of all let me explain; I have had an instance where I found something on my credit report that should not be. Someone purchased some furniture in my name; from a store that I had never been in. While they are making all their payments; it shows up as another open account.

Therefore whether I own that account or not; it hurts my credit score. It will either tell the creditors that I have too much credit. While I am still working on getting that off of my report one of the main things that I am focused on is preventing anything else getting on my report that should not be.

I have found one of the easiest ways to make sure that no one can open up any accounts under my name; is to pay someone to do it for me. I happened to get a credit monitoring service to watch over my entire families personal information. While this may seem as something that is not necessary; however I wanted to make sure that no one in my family would ever have to worry about this problem.

So I can honestly say that I can deter identity theft because I have hired someone to watch over my personal information. Next time that you see an advertisement talking about identity theft; I highly recommend that you pay attention to what they say about how many people are affected by this crime.
